Down 2 Earth

My Favourite Kind of Garden - What's Yours?

This is an easy design garden. If you want to find out more about how to design your own garden, book onto the Garden Design Course at Ebberston Studio

This design had a cottage-garden style with mixed shrubs, perennials, climbers, herbs and vegetables. Shrubs and acers (Japanese maples) would provide year-round structure to the garden, particularly the evergreens. The perennials would provide colour and interest for people and wildlife.

The colours were predominantly purples, blues, whites and pinks, with the occasional splash of red.
The pots were either grouped or placed amongst the planting. These mainly had herbs and vegetables growing in them, showing how easily they can be incorporated into a garden without having a

“veggie patch”.

The raised bed in the corner was mainly home to herbs and vegetables planted in troughs, with flowering plants in containers for added interest.

Low growing perennials pop up between paving slabs to create a softer, more informal, look.
